Larry is both an Australian and South African Chartered Accountant whose professional career includes Manager of KPMG’s Johannesburg tax office, group tax adviser to the Standard Bank Group of South Africa (the largest commercial banking group in Southern Africa at the time), Corporate Finance Executive for Standard Merchant Bank and Director and minority shareholder of Standard Bank Development Finance (the Standard Bank Group’s venture capital arm).
Larry also has a wealth of experience in structured finance (including in the international film industry – having structured, financed and distributed over a dozen independent international feature films – commencing with the South African classic “Jock of the Bushveld” in 1985), contract negotiation and small business development. In December 1999 Larry and his family immigrated to Perth, Western Australia to participate in a joint venture with Barron Filmed Entertainment, the largest film and television producer in WA.
He formed Toucan Films (which provides film finance and production services) and became a founder of West Coast Pictures that produced the feature film “Justice”. Larry is the founder of Dreamboats Luxury Motor Yacht Club, a timeshare boat club operating out of the Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club in Dalkeith, which provides access to over $2,5m of luxury boats to its members.
Larry is a director of Worldly Enterprises Pty Ltd, a boutique venture capital firm focusing on the commercialisation of unique West Australian products and technologies, including Unicoil, now exported throughout the world. In January 2005 Larry joined House & Home Loans, a boutique residential and commercial mortgage broker as a finance consultant and mortgage broker. House & Home Loans is a preferred WA mortgage broker for The Investors Club (90,000 members nationally). Larry was recognised in the MPA Top 100 Brokers List in both 2008 and 2009, settling over $50m in loans in each year.
Larry recently started Charter Mortgage & Finance Pty Ltd with good friend and accountant Barry Levin of Charter Financial Services.
Larry is an active board member of the Rotary Club of Perth, currently serving as Club Service Director. Larry’s contribution to Rotary and the community has been recognised by him being awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship.
Larry is an active tennis player. He is the President of the Northern Districts Tennis Association and President of North Shore Country Club. He is also an active member of Dreamboats Timeshare Boat Club.
